Articulating Concrete Block Systems (ACBs)

Articulating Concrete Block Systems (ACBs), like TRMs, provide a permanent structural element to reinforce turf and permanently increase its resistance to erosion as well as most of the same benefits. ACBs consist of individual pre-cast concrete units put together to create a low profile, high performance erosion prevention system.

1. The ACB’s units are generally manufactured at standard block plants.

2. The individual units are placed together at the site or are often cabled together at the plant,

3. where they can then be picked up and transported as mats,

4. and then installed one mat at a time. ACBs are available in many unit and mat sizes.

5. The mat installation process may be beneficial for both inland and coastal applications.

6. Standard applications includes channels beds and banks,

7. shoreline revetments,

8. steep downchutes,

9. embankments,

10. low water crossings and many more.

11. ACBs provide great construction flexibility for both external,

12. and internal turns.

13. ACBs provide a percentage of open area that can be filled with soil and seed and revegetated,

14. providing same infiltration and filtration benefits of vegetation and reinforced vegetation.

15. Riprap applications can be eyesores that are dangerous, easy to vandalize, difficult to maintain and tend to breed vermin and snakes.

16. ACBs provide a safe, pleasing finished application that is hard to vandalize, easy to maintain and won’t breed vermin and snakes.
